A northern kitchen
Almost everything here is cooked over a wood fire, which is slower than a range and the reason the kitchen closes at ten rather than eleven.
We burn sugar maple and white ash, both cut within the county. The dining room holds 54 and the bar holds 12, and a quarter of the room is kept back for walk-ins every night, so if you did not plan ahead you can still usually eat at the bar.
Close to home
We buy from small North Country farms and from two foragers who turn up at the back door with whatever they found that week. In January that is a much shorter list than in August, and the menu shows it.
Private gatherings
Ten guests at the low end and thirty-two seated, or forty-five if nobody sits down. Family-style or plated, and we will tell you which one suits your number before you ask.
